LinkedIn Jobs App Address Book Import

Address book import that creates more value for job seekers and a more user-centered experience when contacts are imported. My goal was to allow members to connect their address book and provide value to their job-seeking experience.

Ideation

Traditionally, address book import consists of a standard pattern of presenting the user with a list of connections from their address book. However, this model is extremely linear and lacks context and value for members. Through our research, we found that members were engaging more with jobs where they have connections in common. Furthermore, previous studies have shown that referrals lead to more hired candidates and less turnover for a company. With the power of LinkedIn's algorithm, we were able to bridge the gap and offer more value for our members and create context on how members can leverage their connections.

User Flow

There are two locations where we allow the user to opt in to import their address book. The first is post-registration and if the user opts out we will resurface the option within a job details page. Having the permission within a job details page will give our members more context around the value of importing contacts and leveraging their network when job seeking.
